What is Design Manager Accountant Access?
We have created a free cloud user license to be used for outside accountants as an additional benefit for our cloud users. This is a great way for cloud users to give their accounting expert remote access to their Design Manager software. Our hope is to grow our network of accounting professionals so that Design Manager users have an extensive accounting support system. In order to qualify for the free cloud user license, he or she needs to fill out the Design Manager Accountant Access form and meet the following criteria:
- The accountant or bookkeeper needs to either have his or her own accounting business or work for an accounting or financial services company.
- The accountant or bookkeeper needs to agree to the following terms:
- If it is determined that they are using the accountant access under duplicitous terms to help the DM user to avoid paying for a second license, they will be immediately terminated. If they do become an employee of a Design Manager user, they must inform Design Manager, Inc. and the design company must purchase a user license.
- The accountant or accounting firm must be willing to accept referrals from Design Manager and be willing to take on new Design Manager clients.
- The accountant or bookkeeper is responsible for keeping their free login credentials protected and stored in a secure location. Design Manager is not liable if the accountant loses, misplaces, mishandles, or distributes the login credentials.
Consultants: Individuals who actively sell Design Manager to new users, assist in setting up Design Manager for initial use, train new and existing users on Design Manager, and provide other such specialized services.
In order to receive commissions, an individual must fulfill the requirements as discussed in the Becoming a Design Manager Certified Consultant section below.
Approved and active Consultants are provided with training at a reduced price, Technical Support Blocks, inclusion on our website as a certified Consultant and will be suggested to clients in the Consultant’s area actively seeking local assistance in Design Manager, and may receive commissions for new or recurring Design Manager sales.
Becoming a Design Manager Certified Consultant
In order to become a Design Manager Consultant, one must first request and complete the Design Manager Consultant Application. After Design Manager has received the completed application, the applicant is required to successfully pass the Design Manager Consultant Exam. Contact our Sales Department at firstname.lastname@example.org for a Consultant Application and to schedule the Consultant Exam.
After passing the Consultant Exam, in order to remain in good standing as a Consultant, the Consultant must agree to the following on-going terms:
- The Consultant must be willing to accept new Design Manager clients for consulting, training, and/or bookkeeping.
- Design Manager Consultants are an extension of the Design Manager brand so Design Manager will regularly contact the Consultant's clients in order to confirm that the clients are still working with the Consultant and in order to gain feedback on the Consultant's work. Design Manager may post reviews from current and previous clients online with full transparency regardless of whether the review was in a positive or negative light.
- The Consultant must accept the below commission terms.
- Design Manager can revoke Consultant status at any time if the above guidelines aren’t met, if the Consultant acts in an unprofessional manner, or is deemed to not maintain the required proficiency in Design Manager. In short, receiving and sustaining Consultant status is entirely at Design Manager’s discretion.
Upon successfully completing the Consultant exam, the individual will receive the Design Manager Certified Badge for inclusion in their credentials, be listed on our website as a Design Manager Recommended Consultant and be suggested as a Design Manager specialist for Design Manager clients.
Consultants are provided with a listing of local Design Manager clients and are eligible for commissions as described in Commission Structure below.
Training and Support
Consultants are provided with Technical Support Blocks from Design Manager, Inc. based upon the current number of clients they are assisting. Consultants with 1 client receive a 2-hour Support Block per calendar year, those with 2-5 clients receive a 4-hour Support Block per calendar year, while Consultants with more than 5 clients receive an 8-hour Support Block per calendar year. The support block cannot be rolled over from year to year, it is per calendar year only.
If the Consultant exceeds the specified block limit, all Support Incidents will be charged at the current Design Manager Technical Support billing rate. Certified Bookkeepers and Accountants are not provided with a Technical Support Block. Such incidents will be billed to the Design Manager client with whom the Bookkeeper or Accountant is currently working.
Training, including on-site at the Consultants locale, at the Design Manager offices, and online, are available for Consultants at a 20% discount from the retail price of these services. Training is separate than tech support because it involves in-depth instruction on using all facets of the Design Manager program in order to develop a proficiency in using the software as opposed to just answering questions.
Commissions are available to Consultants who initiate and procure a sale of Design Manager within the following terms:
- The individual must meet a 2 sales per year minimum OR
- The individual has 5 or more recurring clients and is still actively working with those clients
The commission consists of 10% of the sale to the client paid once annually at the end of the calendar year. Every year that the client renews Design Manager software, the Consultant will receive 10% of the renewal as long as the Consultant follows the above terms
The Consultant finds the prospective client, demonstrates the software, and all related activities necessary to close the sale. All support and technical services will be provided by Design Manager, Inc. To qualify, the Consultant or their client must place the order through the Design Manager website indicating the Consultant in the how did you hear about us section or transmit the order to Design Manager by email with a cover note containing the Consultant contact information. Orders that are placed via the telephone must be done so by the Consultant with the client’s credit card number to ensure the Consultant is credited with the sale.
All Design Manager Products and Services must be charged to the client at the retail prices set forth by Design Manager, Inc. The Consultant will decide whether or not they charge for training or consulting time, etc. However, any such additional fee must be listed separately on the invoice or be otherwise indicated to the client so that the retail price of Design Manager is not compromised. Design Manager must have the client’s address, contact information, phone numbers, and email for record-keeping purposes. Commissions are paid only on software; they are not paid on hardware, software modifications, consulting or training by Design Manager staff, extra manuals, shipping, support incidents, and support blocks.
Guidelines for Providing Technical Support and Training
Design Manager, Inc. provides technical support between the hours of 9-5PM EST excluding holidays. For new software sales, two months of free technical support is provided. The duration of a call can be limited by the technical support representative if the call exceeds ½ hour.
When the client’s free support period has expired, the Consultant can choose to go one of two routes:
- The client can continue to contact Design Manager, Inc. directly to purchase support on a per incident basis or to purchase a Support Block.
- The Consultant can provide support and charge the client accordingly. Design Manager, Inc. recommends charging no more than the Design Manager, Inc. per quarter hour rate (minimum 48.75$/incident) or Support Block.
Technical support should not be confused with software training sessions although it may be difficult to separate the two. Many times, clients budget money for the software purchase, but neglect the critical training aspect. Recommending training sessions as part of the client’s total cost to purchase the software is suggested.
Sales Help from Design Manager
Client lists and leads lists can be obtained after successfully passing the Consultant exam and a history of sales and/or support of Design Manager has been established. Design Manager, Inc. has made a promise to its clients and potential clients to protect their contact information and not allow it to be distributed unfairly on their behalf; therefore, it will be necessary for Consultants to demonstrate professionalism prior to gaining access to this information. A proven history of sales and/or support to Design Manager clients or potential clients is to be determined and approved by Design Manager, Inc.
Design Manager will list Consultants on the Design Manager website so potential and existing clients will be able to contact Consultants directly. However, being listed on this website is at Design Manager’s discretion and will be based on client feedback.
Demonstration Copies and Access to the Client’s Design Manager Cloud
Consultants are provided with operational copies of Design Manager Cloud and Pro Cloud for demonstration and training purposes. The login information given to the Consultant is to be used only by that Consultant. In addition to the demonstration copies, Design Manager can add a copy of any Consultant’s client’s data as long as the proper form has been filled out by both parties. For the above reasons, it is imperative to stress that security is of the utmost importance and a Consultant’s login should never be used by anyone, but that individual.
